Vacation in a 2 Bedroom Condo in the Grand Cayman Islands

Planning a family vacation is never straightforward. For starters, you have to find an affordable holiday destination with plenty of tourist attractions to keep everyone happy. Mediterranean vacations are amazing and in general you can are guaranteed plenty of sunshine. We poured over several travel agents brochures before deciding the family budget would stretch to a self-catering break in the Cayman Islands. Our teenage daughter thought we should book an all-inclusive holiday and our son said we should book a Caribbean cruise. We laughed and said why pay money to be waited on hand foot and finger when you can rent one of the best 2 bedroom condo grand cayman islands offers and enjoy a fantastic self-catering break.

Georgetown is the capital city of the Cayman Islands and the idea of staying in a vibrant city sounded great. The kids wanted to try their hand at snorkeling and scuba diving, whereas we loved the idea of wandering around the local rum distillery, touring historical museums, perusing the art galleries and taking a charter boat tour. Of course, the entire family loved the notion of lazing on the famous Seven Mile beach and friends said we must visit Spott's Public beach to see the turtles feeding in the shallow waters under the sun. So, did our annual summer vacation go as planned?

Ten out of ten for the holiday accommodation, though the rented Cayman condo could have been slightly larger. As Grand Cayman holiday rentals go, we paid a fair price and the fully renovated condo was spotless. TripAdvisor is a great site and the information helped us to choose a perfect island condo situated ten minute's walk away from the long golden beach. Grand Cayman has something for everyone.

Holidaymakers can soak up the sun on golden sands, visit the local attractions, and watch the cruise ships dock, dine alfresco or party the night away in one of the many Cayman Islands clubs and bars. A well-equipped kitchen encouraged us to cook brunch before heading out to explore the sights and much to their delight; the kids were able to enjoy burgers and fried chicken from the famous takeaway food chains. But did the local cuisine live up to our expectations?

Well, as they say, when in Rome do as the Romans do. We sampled grub from the jerk stands and we had to admit the barbecued street food tasted great. Caribbean fare was the order of the day on a visit to a local restaurant but we also spotted plenty of takeouts serving Chinese and Pizza. A spot of exercise was needed after a large breakfast and a light lunch, so a long beach walk helped us to burn away excess calories before they had time to turn into unwanted flab. Shopping isn't my favorite pastime, but the duty-free jewellery, watches and perfume proved too tempting, so the credit card got an airing. What about the tourist attractions in Grand Cayman? Step out of our two- bedroom condominium, walk for ten minutes and you were surrounded by street markets, antique stores, landmarks, parks, amusements, gift shops and invitations to join outdoor activities. Take your pick, we went stingray sailing, fishing, enjoyed various water sports, went on a cycle tour and explored local caves. Was the holiday a success? Blue skies, clear sky, hot sun and silver sands, what was there not to like?
